People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. There were sufficient staff on duty to support people safely. The service had completed the necessary recruitment checks to make sure suitable staff were employed. The bedrooms are arranged over three floors – with a lift giving easy access to all – and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own photographs and other items of sentimental value.

The senior managers of all the providers homes had a monthly meeting where various aspects of service provision were discussed and audit outcomes were presented.
The provider regularly assessed and monitored the quality of care provided at Castle View. Feedback from people and their relatives was encouraged and was used to make improvements to the service. Staff were appropriately trained and had the right skills to provide the care people needed. They received a thorough induction when they started working for the home and demonstrated a good understanding of their role and responsibilities. Staff had completed training to ensure the care and support provided to people was safe and effective to meet their needs. At this inspection we found the evidence continued to support the rating of good and there was no evidence or information from our inspection and ongoing monitoring that demonstrated serious risks or concerns.

This inspection report is written in a shorter format because our overall rating of the service has not changed since our last inspection. System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future. People continued to be effectively supported by a team of staff who were trained and well supported to meet their needs. Staff had been assessed as competent to administer medicines.

People told us they felt safe when receiving care and were involved in developing and reviewing their care plans. Systems were in place to protect people from abuse and harm and staff knew how to use them. That’s really important to me to feel comfortable” and “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, I feel safe here”.
– the service is performing well and meeting our expectations. We spoke with three relatives of people who used the service and they all told us staff were professional respectful and caring. One person said “I have been so happy with my husband’s care, the staff always tell me what is going on and any changes that occur”. Another person told us “the care here is excellent, it doesn’t matter what time of the day or night I visit, it’s always the same”.
It monitors and inspects services, to make sure they are safe, effective and provide high-quality care. It is the fundamental ethos that those service users who live in the home should be able to do so in accordance with the homes statement of values. It is the objective of the home that all service users shall live in a clean and safe environment and be treated with respect and sensitivity to their individual needs and abilities. Staff will be responsive to the individual needs of service users and will provide the appropriate degree of care to assure the highest possible quality of life within the home. People told us what it was like to live at this home and described how they were treated by staff and their involvement in making choices about their care. They also told us about the quality and choice of food and drink available.
